Lab #207

Project Overview
Lab #207 is a small secret laboratory where the experiment has gone wrong and the creature has escaped. The lab is hidden down a dark forgotten alleyway within a low economical city. The idea was to create a scene that creates a contrast of expensive lab equipment and run down outside environment

LAB#207 Project Goals
Create a believable exterior with a realistic, lived-in appearance.
Include convincing destruction and damage that feels natural and authentic.
Use expressive lighting that maintains visual clarity while adding colour and atmosphere to the space.
Lighting and Colour
One aspect of modern cities that I find particularly interesting is the use of neon lights and vibrant colours, whether they come from street art or illuminated advertising signs. I wanted to incorporate this into my scene, as emphasising these elements creates a familiar urban atmosphere and helps make the environment feel more relatable and engaging for the viewer.

Grey box
For the greyboxing phase, I followed the three-size rule: large, medium, and small. This approach breaks the scene into manageable sections by starting with the major buildings and objects, then gradually adding more detail. I finished the greybox by including the smaller elements, such as bins and pipes, to complete the scene.

Environment/ weather
One of the key elements that makes a digital world feel believable is the weather and lighting. For this scene, I used Ultra Dynamic Sky and Weather to create a more realistic atmosphere. It helped establish the mood of the environment and provided the final polish needed to bring Lab #207 to life.
